Regulations that impact on the zircon value chain include:
It is important that, as an industry, we keep abreast of these and other global regulations that do or could impact on zircon and its derivatives. For example, the REACH regulation has been in force in the European Union since June 2007 and has resulted in the registration of technical and toxicological data on a number of Zr-based chemicals and Zr metal.
Derivatives of REACH are being introduced across the globe and, although broadly similar in their purpose, they are not identical. ZIA’s Regulatory Committee has the responsibility of following these regulations to raise members' awareness and provide information to support compliance activities. Specialist consultants are co-opted by the committee when deemed necessary.
ZIA Members can participate in market development, technical and R&D programmes and get access to our full Knowledge Bank and Zircon Academy.
