The AGM & Annual Conference of the Zircon Industry Association (ZIA) will take place in Bangkok, Thailand on the 6th and 7th September 2018. Entitled ‘The zircon industry – what’s just over the horizon?’, the conference will bring delegates up to speed with the latest developments and market trends affecting zircon production and use globally.
A keynote address by Tom O’Leary of Iluka Resources begins the first day’s programme, followed by presentations on zircon supply and demand dynamics, the Chinese zircon market, zircon in large slabs, and a round-up of upcoming zircon mining projects from five leading organisations.
The second day opens with a keynote address by Dr Andrew Staples from The Economist intelligence unit, followed by a variety of presentations covering the zircon chemical supply chain, the IAEA’s Safety Standards’ approach to NORM, challenges and solutions in the shipping of NORM, zircon in roof tiles, zircon metal and new developments in zircon friction materials.
Commenting on the conference, Dr Keven Harlow, Executive Director, ZIA, said: “Held for the first time in Asia, this year’s conference is the largest and most ambitious we have organised to date. A total of 16 speakers from all over the world will share their knowledge on a wide variety of zircon and zircon-related topics, together providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive view of the zircon industry in 2018 and beyond.”
“It’s also set to be a great networking opportunity with the chance to meet representatives from the entire zirconium value chain, with well over 100 delegates from more than 70 organisations and 26 countries registered to attend,” he added. View Conference Programme

ZIA members currently represent some 80% of the globally-produced zircon tonnage. ZIA's mission is to represent and support the interests of the zircon, zirconia and zirconium value chains.
ZIA has a strict antitrust compliance policy which is announced before the start of meetings and which delegates are required to observe.
