ZIA elects new Chair

November 2023

The Zircon Industry Association elected a new Chair at its recent members’ Assembly meeting. Angelika Priese of Imerys assumed the Chair from outgoing Chairman, Fidel García- Guzmán.

On her appointment, Angelika commented:

“I am honoured to work alongside an experienced Board and Secretariat as we continue to develop ZIA to represent all those involved in the zircon, zirconia, and zirconium chemicals’ industries."

"ZIA has grown impressively over the past five years including our valued Annual Conference – considered nowadays as the 'heartbeat of the industry'. This growth gives us a solid foundation on which to further expand. Going forward, we will continually seek to increase our membership, guided by our Membership Values.”

During her tenure as Chair, Angelika aims to: create a vision for 2030 that drives ZIA towards a sustainable and successful future; encourages underrepresented minorities and women to engage with ZIA and the industry; and increases collaboration within the industry and academia to ensure that the zircon industry contributes positively to the environment, society, and economy, with a lasting legacy of responsible stewardship.

Following the most successful ZIA Annual Conference to-date, Executive Director, Keven Harlow commented:

“Over the last year, we have continued to deliver value to our members. A sustainability report identifying how zircon and zirconia support a sustainable world will be published later this year, while our member-exclusive Zircon Industry & Market Trends reports have been very well received.”

“We were delighted to welcome three new members over the last year and with Angelika’s guidance, ZIA will continue to grow to represent the global zircon and zirconia value chains."

"Our achievements would not be possible without the unwavering support of our members, and with their continued backing, we look forward to many successful years ahead.”
